Full request 1/29
I’ve had some exciting requests but this is the one that’s making it difficult to continue pretending to be a person… trying to keep my rampant hopes in check but hoping the fourth book is The One!
Update 7/9- we had a phone call 7/8 in which she encouraged me to continue working on my WIP. She’s lovely. Trying to keep my rampant hopes in check but hoping the fifth book is The One ;) good luck everyone!
Update 10/2- I sent her my new project on 8/15 and she offered rep on 9/25!! I ended up with a few offers but am so excited to say I am now working with Barbara. She is truly incredible. Good luck everyone!

Agent's email regarding my e-query went into either my spam folder or newsletter folder the next day. Had to check her off as a "trusted sender."
As per the guidelines, my query followed her formula --- "the hook, the book, the cook." For the hook she wants the TITLE, word count, genre, and 1 or 2 comp titles and some tag line about the book you're submitting. Instead of a separate description, I included with each comp title some premise feature in common with my story.
Here is the acknowledgement I got:
Thank you so much for thinking of me with your query!
Because of the quantity of queries I receive, I am unable to answer each submission individually. Gah! I know. But if you are getting this autoresponder, it means I have it in the queue and I personally read the queries, not an assistant or intern. If I am interested in seeing more, you will hear from me directly.
Thank you again,
Barbara
