Miriam is so incredibly generous! I received an approximately 500-word personalized critique on the full, which included the page number where things started to slump, as well as the page Miriam ended on, which is actually quite useful. This is such a rare, deeply, thought-out response and much appreciated!

Partial Request: at 45 days.
This is my second partial request from Miriam. Her pass on my last partial was eye-opening and so encouraging. Out of a decade of querying, it's my favorite reply.
She tends to reply to subs super fast, so it's good to know I won't be waiting very long to hear back.

Form rejection 20/02

Her comments did say the manuscript reached her maybe pile, but I think this might just be her standard form response letter :(

After a partial request (first 50 pages), Miriam responded with the kindest and most substantive decline I've gotten in years. Choosing the words of the form-decline component in such a kind and deliberate way speaks volumes and really makes a difference. And I'm so grateful to any agent who takes the time like this to support querying writers and provide an authentic and detailed personal response to specific elements of my story even when declining, as well as even offering a different possible comp title I could use! I've gotten so used to business-like rejections and non-responses (even after partial and full requests) that this came as a shock and felt like a success rather than a decline. Wish I could reply directly to the QueryTracker email to say thank you, but since I can't, I'm posting this here. Miriam seems like not just a wonderful professional but an exceptionally caring and generous person.
