Her web site lists a few nonfiction books that she's represented, but I can't tell what genre they're in.

I queried Ms. Eberhardt after visiting her website and reading an interview with her. I hadn't realized that she was closed to queries, so when I entered the data here on QT, I was mortified I hadn't verified her status first. To my dismay, she answered me two days after I sent the query. She could not have been lovelier or more kind, and she actually read the sample story I sent from my collection, which is a genre she does not represent. My impression is that Ms. Eberhardt is courteous, professional, and a deeply engaged agent who champions and guides her clients through each step of the editing and publishing process. I recommend that women who write polished literary/upmarket fiction with a historical bend query her. (She also runs a yearly writers' retreat in France, which sounds delightful and supportive. Applications for the retreat can be found on her website.)

I met April at a conference in May, 2017. She was extremely encouraging and on-point in her critique of the first 20 pages of my novel manuscript and asked for a full read of when it was complete. Twenty-one months later (Feb, 2019), I e-mailed her with it and she responded enthusiastically within three hours(!!) and read it within three days. Her response offered a short but useful further critique, more encouragement, and the main reason for her not offering representation: her focus had shifted since we met, to "women's book club fiction featuring strong female protagonists". (My protagonist is male.) Very positive experience despite rejection.
