@ramblinjackelliot I so agree with your comment. If you want us to be careful about not submitting to another agent at your agency after we've submitted to you, give us some parameters. What is a "reasonable length of time"? Why not say a month or whatever? I feel like if they can't be a little more clear in their expectations, we might as well go for it.

@yirray. I think we gives these agents too much credit for keeping tabs on what comes through their inboxes. If you submitted to another agent a while ago, go for it with Ms. Haywood. They certainly won't figure it out unless (or until!) Ms. Haywood falls in love with your story, by which time, this little indiscretion will be no issue. What's the worse they can do anyway? Not respond? Go for it!

@mevrouw_bee I know! I'm not sure what to think, I wish it were clearer

@yiiray The site is contradictory, isn't it? The main submissions page says, "Our preference is that you submit to one agent at a time, but if you plan to submit your material to more than one agent than we ask you to declare that overlap in your covering letter."

But Samantha's page says, "Please note if other agents are also considering the project and please do not submit to me if you have already submitted to another Transatlantic Agent."

Hard to say. It would be nice if the website said they shared queries or that after so many weeks, consider it a pass...

I submitted to another agent a long time ago who never responded. Do you think in this case I could still query Samantha

Agents website does not indicate she is closed to queries, but I received a reply email, stating that she was, and offering no timeline.

@Belle_91 On the agency website, they said they were closed for the holidays until 4 January. So yes, open for Jan queries, but after the 4th.

I queried her at the appropriate email, but got back a reply saying she's closed to queries except by referral. So....I'm not sure if my query went through. It said she was open to general submissions starting Jan. 1 and I queried her on Jan. 2
