Apparently a non-response after 55 days constitutes a no from the agency. Received this email:

"If you haven't heard from one of our agents, your materials weren’t right for our list at Lucinda Literary at this time. In our experience, this often comes down to one of three things, defined further in Get Signed.

The Big Idea sits too close to other titles already on the market, or others we’ve recently taken on.

The Writing, voice, or narrative drive doesn't yet deliver at the caliber we subjectively feel to be necessary for the genre.

The Platform hasn't reached the visibility or authority our publishing relationships require.

Most projects we pass on are strong in one of these areas and still catching up in the other two. Closing the gap tends to be a matter of preparation and timing rather than talent.

The Lucinda Literary Academy – our sister publishing education and coaching division – exists for writers exactly at this stage. We offer private consults, half-day intensives, manuscript assessments, long-term coaching retainers, and a twelve-week Accelerator – each built to sharpen your idea, your pages, or your platform. Our consultants are literary agents and editors working in today's market, and the Academy is built around helping writers do that work well.

Publishing rewards persistence more than any single yes or no. If you'd like a low-pressure place to get more information while you’re querying others, our [Get Signed Bundle] walks through our Get Signed method in more depth. Otherwise, we’re wishing you the best in finding the right home for your work, and we'd be glad to hear from you again down the line."

Have to love an agency, where they sell services and encourage you to buy a book, to submit to their firm. This is a hard pass.

FYI, it's unclear how to direct your query to a specific agent when using the online form. I ended up adding the name in the book title field.
