It seems that the last few unanswered queries from August are going to stay unanswered. Which feels pretty bad if you're one of them and have watched the timeline these last few months, waiting for an answer, any answer, as everyone else in the group got their closure. I'm pretty inured to the whole agents not answering queries thing at this point, but this feels different. Crappier.

Looks like we're sometimes actually in the maybe pile. Very harrowing watching people fly out of the queue before and after you.

"You’re a very talented writer, and I read [TITLE] with interest. I was very taken with the concept. Unfortunately, I wasn’t as taken with the viewpoint character, who I know changes, but… I just wasn’t quite sufficiently enthusiastic to feel that I’d be the best champion for your work.

"However, ours is a very subjective business, and I’m certain you’ll find a wonderful agent, who will view your work with all the enthusiasm you deserve. You might try the following agents, though this is certainly not an exhaustive list. (If they’re currently closed to queries, they may reopen after the holidays.) [...]"

“Thank you for your patience while I considered [TITLE]. My apologies for the delay in responding. I’d received almost 700 queries when I reopened briefly, and yours was one I’d marked for further review. You’re a talented writer. Unfortunately, I was not quite sufficiently enthusiastic to feel that I would be the best advocate for your work.

I’m sure another agent will view your work with all the enthusiasm it deserves, and I wish you the best for your writing career.”

I was pretty hopeful about this. Didn’t get any feedback about my book either which sucks :(
I know she’s busy and didn’t owe me the feedback but I would have loved to know what needed revising.

Anyway, good luck to everyone.
