After submitting to Laurie, I received an automatic email about how if I don't receive an offer from her after 2 weeks, to assume she has moved on as she is only representing a handful of authors at this time. Today marks 2 weeks with no response, so that's that. Bummer, as I think she would have been a good fit but alas

Form letter rejection within a few days:
Dear Jennifer,

Thank you for sending your query and for giving me the opportunity to consider your work, but I have decided to pass. My apologies for not sending a personal reply, but the hundreds of queries I receive each month make this form response necessary.

It’s important that I focus on those projects that I believe I can represent in the strongest, most enthusiastic way possible. Much of my decision comes down to my own gut instinct about whether I would be a good match for the book. There are countless admirable projects with great potential, but I am not right for all of them.

Again, I’m sorry to have to pass, but I wish you the best of luck in finding the right agent to champion your work. If you haven’t already done so, you may want to consider checking online at Writers Digest, AuthorsGuild.org WritersandEditors.com, PublishersMarketplace.com, and https://aalitagents.org for various publishing resources.

Sincerely,
Laurie Abkemeier
