I'm not sure about that, mbowman. This agent is Shawna McCarthy but the website is for Sean McCarthy.

I don't think she actually read my query or my follow-up. It's OK if her list was full or she just didn't like it. A great reason for agents to use form letters instead of what are intended to be more personal rejections, I think...

"Thanks for thinking of me, but I'm afraid I find the dystopia to be somewhat over familiar."

OK, but my query said

"compelling vision for a future which is neither dystopic nor utopian -- not even allegorical! -- but instead recognizable as a place driven by human connection."
