Sweet rejection note. Suggests she is taking on no more new projects until she clears off present ones. Authors take note.

On 3/3, I queried her. Two weeks ago, I nudged her. No dice. It's closed/no response.

Thanks, professor! I'm plugging away. Query, query, query...

This is an example of a really good response, even though it is a pass. Tells you she liked it but is a pass because she is tired of the topic, not because of the writing. Likes the title and voice, but can't muster the enthusiasm. Good stuff. Keep plugging away - sounds like you are most certainly on the right track.

Submitted memoir query letter by snail mail 1/14/11. Received nice, personal rejection letter on 1/31/11. (The topic is recovery from depression.)
Dear Nicole,
Thank you for getting in touch with your work. I'm afraid it's a pass for me because I'm just too burned out on the topic. You deserve an agent who comes to the table with a kind of enthusiasm I can't muster for breakdown narratives.
I love your title and you've got a great voice. I wish you every success and I hope you'll understand.
Best,
Betsy Lerner

Sent an e-mail query at the end of December to no response. Just sent a follow-up e-mail today (4/12).

Requested partial via e-mail a week after I mailed my query letter. She's the first agent I heard back from! I sent her the first five chapters, and a week later, she sent me a kind and encouraging e-mail, even though it was still a rejection. :(

form rejection says: "Unfortunately, we're taking on very few new projects at the moment due to an already full load with present clients..."
