5/30/23: Email query
6/1/23: Partial request (50 pages and synopsis), from an assistant
6/12/23: Form rejection, from an assistant
93K historical noir
I queried somewhat on a whim, since Nat Sobel had sold a recently released book I enjoyed, though several things put me off about the agency (accepting only snail mail queries until very recently, requiring exclusivity on submissions, not having a contract with their authors, and the fact that almost none of their clients seem to be women). I received a rejection on my first fifty pages, from an assistant who was open about the fact that Nat never read the partial (they did), and the rejection was both form (no specific feedback) but also somewhat brusque/rude ("we found too many issues to request the rest," but no info on what those issues were). I wouldn't query this agency again.

Regretfully,
