Q: 11/22/25 72k historical fiction
Requested 100 pages, 11/24/25
Requested full: 1/6/26
Rejected: 1/23/26. This was such a sad note to receive. Felicia appears to be the rare agent who, during the query process, engages with you on a personal level. I had such a great feeling about her. She apologetically wrote to me that she'd been distracted during the holidays and wondered if others had requested fulls. When I said that four had, she promised a response within a certain period of time. Her rejection note was very kind, with praise for the research and some insights into the characters. She had read the book closely. But her bottom line was: "I think this has promise - absolutely - but for me it’s still a ways off and needs another draft." (This was my third draft, and I had been hoping I had finally nailed it. She did offer to look at a revised draft, but urged me to keep trying with other agents first.) A delightful experience, though -- human, conscious of time, thoughtful. I think if you snag her as your agent, you will be lucky indeed.

Sent a very kind and personal rejection and when I told her that I had rewritten the book since we last spoke, she asked to give it a second chance which I thought was very generous of her. Not often you meet personal agents who speak to you like any person and I like that a lot. She’s cool.
