More or less form rejection on a partial in 8 days:

"I just didn’t find myself caught up enough in the narrative to ask to read more."

She spelled my name wrong in the reply, so I am not going to take this one too personally.

short rejection:

I do appreciate the query, but this doesn’t sound like the right project for me.

Query sent 8/1/23
Partial request 8/8/23
Rejection 8/30/23

Short, polite rejection. Said she liked the period detail but wasn't "caught up in the characters enough" to continue. Not gonna lie, this one hurt a bit.

Kathryn would be a dream agent if you could get her interested in your work. She responded to my email query in three days, requesting the first 50 pages. Two weeks later she rejected the manuscript with a brief personalized note. Appears to be an intelligent, decent person who takes her work seriously and treats prospective clients with respect. If all literary agents took a page from her book :) this might not be such a dehumanizing industry.

A fan of the premise but didn't connect with the narrative; very polite, though.
