Did you guys get the message via QM or email? I emailed her my full as per her instructions after #DVPit and haven't heard from her yet. I would like to query other agents at the agency but I don't want to be disrespectful to Amanda.

EDIT: Thanks millie_abks :)

@bawhelan I received it via QM, as a rejection in the system but with the message about leaving agenting. It will probably take her time to respond to everyone in QM with this message. If you check the timeline, you can see she started sending a lot today but isn't done.

"Thank you for your patience in waiting to hear from me. Please know that this is not a rejection of your novel, but rather, a message to say that I am leaving agenting and so I will be unable to take your book any further. I want to say thank you for thinking about me as a possible agent originally, and I sincerely hope that you place your book and make a success in publishing."

Adult fantasy, 102k. Offered helpful advice about my query!

Query sent April 2022.
Personalized rejection December 2022.

This was the first ever personalized response I've ever received and it was such a wonderful thing to receive. I was blown away by the kindness after so many form rejections. I know agents don't have time to respond to everything, and they certainly don't have time to personalize things, but this meant a lot to me anyways. Will be keeping an eye on this agent and hoping the very best for her. I feel like any writer who signs with her will be very lucky indeed.

110k Adult Fantasy

A very nice personalised rejection. She really liked my query & sample pages, but an existing client is currently doing almost the same genre combo (standalone adult crossover F) & major setting/plot-mover. Encouraged me to query her again in the future.

Amanda claims she responds to all queries but she's had my query for 11 months. How am I supposed to query other agents at this agency with my NEW manuscript, if she doesn't close out queries in nearly a year? Should I withdraw my query? Will that make me look bad to other agents at her agency?

Query sent: 4/16/22
125k adult Fantasy

Nudged her because a different agent from her agency liked one of my #moodpitch tweets for a new MS. I hope she answers, even if it's a rejection. Would feel bad to withdraw my query, but also to let the other agent who liked my pitch wait... It's been six months after all. Not sure if I should expect a reply but she said she answers every query, so.... idk

easily one - if not the - nicest and most personalized "rejection" I've ever got! It was clear she's read my sample pages from what she wrote.
She liked my writing but has too many similar projects right now, but encouraged me to query her again in the future! :)

@KMVeohongs Well that's pretty crappy! I suspect my SFF query will eventually lead to a rejection then (sitting around 90 days already). I'm sorry to hear she didn't ask for your full again. I had something like this happen to me too with an agent that switched agencies.

Requested a full in June 2021. I had assumed this was a CNR, then got a message in March 2022 saying she was basically clearing her inbox and I was welcome to re-query when she opened in a couple of weeks and to note she had previously requested a full. I sent that in April 2022 when she re-opened, then heard nothing until a rejection this week saying she now had too many SFF authors, so she would not be requesting again. Lesson being, maybe move her to the bottom of your list if you write SFF.
