@KrystalConley I don't think your age is a deterrent. But along the lines of what Emilia said, most writers don't secure an agent with the first book they query. Keep going, and continue developing your writing skills. If you are looking for advice on your current project, your word count might be a little too low. If you're not getting the response you hope for from agents on this project, remember 2 things: 1, you can pause querying and look for more beta reader/critique partner feedback that can help you further develop the story. And, 2, whether or not you do that, no story is wasted. If you eventually get your agent on the second or third book you write/query, this one will still be on your shelf, and your agent may be willing to look at it with you at some point.

@KrystalConley It's not stupid at all! And I'm glad you're going to keep going! (One of the best parts of this industry is getting to prove people wrong by fulfilling the dream anyway haha!) Absolutely rooting for you!!! :)

Thank you @Emilia_Young, everyone has either told me to stop or that its a stupid teenage dream. Your encouragement is well needed and I will keep on trying :)

@KrystalConley I think it's super brave to be querying at your age! I wouldn't have even known where to start!
I'm a few years older than you, and I've been told that even my age was something that was standing out to agents as well. I was advised to keep my age vague because of it (I ended up choosing not to, but looking back I wonder the same thing, maybe I should have).
The one thing I'll say is that you're very young and have a wonderful career ahead of you. It may take a few tries with querying different books, but that time is going to pass anyway no matter how you use it, so you may as well keep giving it a shot as long as you want to. Your querying pretty much resets with every book you pitch, and the feedback you get (even if rejected) will absolutely help you grow. So there aren't many negatives to continuing to try as long as you have the strength to do so without being discouraged from that great career ahead of you. Every year under your belt and the platforms you build for yourself during this time won't go to waste ever. I highly recommend building platforms like BlueSky to help you learn and get feedback if you haven't already; it's helped me so much! Wishing you so much luck! <3 :)
