EQ - 5/23/23
Form Rejection - 5/29/23

Adult Literary Fiction, 81,000 words

"Thank you for getting in touch about your work.

This isn’t something I can take on. Please don’t think of that as a negative assessment of your writing or your book.

Agents are all looking for different things and what’s not a fit for me can be exactly what someone else is looking for.

Please don’t think of this as rejection so much as redirection to an agent who will be a better match.

I hope you’ll query widely.

Warm wishes,
Janet"

Same form rejection as others, but she added this at the beginning:

I’m sorry for the delayed response. I was
out of the office for several weeks with
a malicious malady and fell behind on answering queries.

It only took her a month (32 days, to be exact) to get back to me, which is actually that long of a waiting, IMO. To me, it speaks well of her character that she felt she needed to explain why she fell behind on answering queries. It's shows understanding of how hard it is for querying writers to wait for responses from agents. I hope she's fully recovered from her malicious malady.
