Hello,

Thank you for the opportunity to consider your work. Unfortunately I did not feel passionate enough about your work to be able to offer representation at this time.

I’m afraid it’s impossible for me to give individual feedback on every project I receive, but there are a multitude of reasons any agent may pass on your work – similar projects on their list, current workload, can’t see the right route to market, industry feedback on market trends etc. Very few of them are that it is not ‘good’, though of course, as with all art, there is a subjective response to the writing.

As an author in a fiercely competitive market, you need an agent who can be an absolute champion of you and your writing. Best of luck finding the right agent for your work.

Regards,

Hattie Grunewald

Disappointing but do appreciate a response.

Hello,
Thank you so much for sending me your work to consider. It's not right for my list, but please don't take that as a sign that it's not good, or that you should give up. I can't give personal feedback to everyone due to the sheer volume of submissions I receive, but it comes down to the fact that I have to be extremely selective about who I represent. The relationship between author and agent is one that should last a long time, and you need someone who is passionate enough about your work to be your champion throughout your writing career - regretably that's not me in this case.

I wish you every good luck on your journey.

Best,
Rachel (rachelsubmissions@blairpartnership.com)
