A wonderful lit agent with an incredible experience: YA Romance 53K

EQ: 9/19/23
Full Request from Catherine Bradshaw, Susan's assistant: 11/7/23
Personalized rejection with TONS of actionable feedback: 12/7/23

I asked if I could send in a revised version on 12/7/23. Catherine agreed on 12/28/23 -- turned into an R&R.

R&R submitted 1/3/24. YA Romance 78K.
Another personalized rejection on 3/5/24 -- not the perfect fit.

Catherine and Susan were very communicative and thoughtful in their response letter. I could tell they took the time to actually read through my story. Although I'm sad it didn't result in an offer, I can honestly say that I'm a better writer and that I've grown because of them. I HIGHLY recommend querying Susan, and I will be sure to query with my next project if it meets her genres.

"Thank you so much for your patience as we considered your query. Although this sounds intriguing, I’m afraid it isn’t right for Susan. Her client list is very full right now, forcing her to be extremely selective about taking on anyone new. I wish you all the best in finding enthusiastic representation."

I received this rejection note—from the office of Susan Golomb. Same language quoted in comments for Susan Ginsburg below. I'm sure it's not only Susans who use it.

My query letter was clear that I had fulls out with other agents, and she wants exclusivity so I guess I can close this one.
Form rejection: 29 Jun 2023 Oh, never mind. lol
