QT: How long have you been writing?
B. Green:
Six Years!
QT: How long have you been working on this book?
B. Green:
The idea came to me in 2020, just after I finished watching Poldark, but I did not start writing it until 2025. It was one of those books that you had to think about for a long while before putting pen to paper.
QT: Was there ever a time you felt like giving up, and what helped you to stay on course?
B. Green:
Many times, and I did give up many times and self publish. My books don’t fit into one specific genre box which is why I found little luck in the trenches.
What helped me to stay on course was sheer determination and stubbornness.
QT: Is this your first book?
B. Green:
Nope, I have 4 others!
QT: Do you have any formal writing training?
B. Green:
Absolutely zero. I actually failed GCSE English literature and language.
QT: How many times did you re-write/edit your book?
B. Green:
I’ve lost count.
QT: Did you have beta readers for your book?
B. Green:
I did, I had three! All of which were very helpful.
QT: Did you outline your book, or do you write from the hip?
B. Green:
A bit of both with this one.
QT: On what criteria did you select the agents you queried?
B. Green:
I utilised manuscript wishlist, it became my new bible that I checked more often than I’d like to admit. Any get who had listed my comp titles as book they had enjoyed or were looking for/same genre, I added to my list.
QT: What advice would you give other writers seeking agents?
B. Green:
Don’t give up! So much of this is timing and luck. I got lucky that horromance is beginning to trend, I don’t think that this manuscript would have stood a chance a few years ago.
