Always verify publisher's information before sending your query. Verify the publisher's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the publisher is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for publisher information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the publisher's website.

Like many other commenters here, I too received a rather nasty rejection letter from Cassie Knight. Initially, she sounded excited and asked for the full manuscript, but after six weeks she came back with a reply listing several problems my editor and I disagreed with. She suggested that I look online to resolve many basic grammatical problems. My editor and I both know the difference between farther (physical distance) and further (all instances but physical distance), and the difference between toward and towards is strictly a regional preference. It's almost as if this lady just didn't like the story but felt compelled to make up some elaborate excuse why it had to be rejected. We're all big kids here, Ms. Knight, and we know that a story can be accepted or rejected for completely subjective reasons. There's no need to insult us here.

Cassie Knight at Champagne Book Group "Liked" my #PitMad pitch and invited me to send a query with ATTN: JODI. After I sent a query letter in a form provided by CBG, I was then asked to send the completed manuscript and synopsis of Lacey's Deception. I did this on June 4, 2020. I received notice of Upload received.

With nasty remarks...those could be true...I'm sending them to my editor to help me figure that out. So, proceed at your own risk.

UPDATE: 01/28/20 Offer of contract from another publisher. What a strange business this is!

The rejection was abrupt. Disappointing, but I'll carry on.
