Always verify publisher's information before sending your query. Verify the publisher's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the publisher is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for publisher information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the publisher's website.

Satirical adult fantasy. Sent email beforehand to see who I should submit to. Alexis @ FSG confirmed Eric Chinski was still their Ed-in-Chief, but thought "[p]erhaps Sean McDonald or Daniel Vazquez in the MCD imprint would be best for that genre." Checked MCD and they seemed totally wrong for my book. So I mailed the 1st 50pp 11/18/19 to Eric Chinski, as no one said they weren't taking queries without an agent at that time. Sent 3 requests for status: 4/27/20, 6/30/20, and 1/31/21. No one replied,

Publisher has never acknowledged query/submission nor replied to multiple requests for status. Book was submitted 11/18/19 when both their website and MacMillan affiliates confirmed that at that time an author could query without agent representation. Further, the editor-in-chief, Eric Chinski, was confirmed and it was to his attention I directed my mailed submission. Checked again 4/27/20 and their website NOW stated it would not accept unsolicited/non-agented submissions. I mentioned that in a follow-up but still did not receive a single response.
