Always verify publisher's information before sending your query. Verify the publisher's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the publisher is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for publisher information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the publisher's website.

Leave comments about your experiences with this publisher, or read what other authors have to say.

The panel of editors at conference made it clear that none, except TOR/Forge, accept unsolicited manuscripts. However, Angela Polidoro, who I met briefly, said if she met someone at conference with a terrific pitch/manuscript she would not turn down a look at it.
