Always verify agent's information before sending your query. Verify the agent's query preferences, contact information, genres of interest, and if the agent is still open to queries.

Although QueryTracker tries to stay current, it is not always easy. Never trust any single source for agent information (and yes, this includes QueryTracker).

Review the user comments for more information, and always follow exactly what it says on the agent's website.

And NEVER give money to an "agent".

Leave comments about your experiences with this literary agent, or read what other authors have to say.

On 5/11, I requeried Katie Kotchman with Venom. Today I've gotten the same R as Scififictionwriter did last month. I'll try her this summer with Chain Reaction.

Thank you for your email. I appreciate the opportunity to consider your work for possible representation, but I’m afraid I’ve decided to pass.
Please do not be discouraged as many best-sellers have been passed on numerous times prior to being successfully published. I wish you the best of luck finding an enthusiastic agent and publisher for your work.

Sincerely,
Katie Kotchman

She liked my pitch during a PitMad event last month, but I had already sub'd to another agent there. I was since then rejected by that agent but invited to send other work, so it was not all bad. Maybe KK will be better for me :).

One thing I've learned from this process is that it's worthwhile to query more than one agent at the same agency (of course you must wait out the time specified on their website and/or have been turned down by the first agent before trying a second). Yes, what I've pasted below is just a form letter—but I like the way it's worded.
