Never got a response, so I re-queried: 7/16/18
PR: 7/17/18
YA urban fantasy

She said she never received my first query and that this sounds like something right up her alley. So re-querying proved to be worth it! Fingers crossed...

Thank you so much for allowing our agency to consider your material. Unfortunately, after carefully reviewing your query, we’ve determined that this particular project isn’t the right fit for our agency at this time. As I’m sure you know, the publishing industry changes swiftly now, as do readers’ tastes and trends. As a result, our own agents’ needs shift and change, as well; therefore, we would like to encourage you to consider querying us with future projects as you may deem appropriate.

Again, thank you very much for allowing us this chance to consider your material, and we wish you all the best in your publishing endeavors.

Sincerely,
Kristy Hunter

I don't know all of the abbreviations on here... BUT I forgot to post when this was first starting, and I think it's important to document with each agent... so better late than never.

Originally sent query on March 16th, 2017, and on March 22nd received a request for a partial submission and a synopsis (wrote a synopsis quickly, and had never done it before, so was very nervous, and I am sure not very good :( ) Sent the requested material the next day on March 23rd.

Fast forward to May 17th, 2017, I checked in and she responded very quickly that she was behind. Checked in again at the end of June bc I was paranoid and went on vacation somewhere with no internet or cell service, so I notified her in case she got it read during that time. She wrote back soon thereafter telling me thanks for notifying her. I heard nothing while on vacation and nudged her one more time at the end of July - this time without a response. I was worried that I had bugged her writing back so soon, so I decided I wouldn't contact her again and would allow her to contact me.

I became hopeful when I saw she was closed to submissions in October. Finally on November 27th I decided to write her and just see if there was an updated timeline (hadn't had any correspondence since July so I thought that was enough of a time lapse to be able to contact her again) - she wrote me back quickly saying: "Thanks for checking in. My goal is to be caught up before I leave for the holiday break, so I should be getting to you in the next few weeks. My apologies for the delay; it’s just been a very busy year and I’m afraid I’m more behind than normal. Thanks again for your understanding!"

So... with 6 days left before Christmas when I write this, I am waiting excitedly, anxiously, and hopefully for a positive response within the next less-than-a-week!!!!! (EEK!)

Update: 1/17/18 - still waiting. She must have been quite behind.
1/23/18 - Rejection with a nice response saying I had lovely writing, and mentioned some tweaks I could make.
