Have you gotten anywhere with your manuscript as far as Mr. Mecoy is concerned other than the editing?

Submitted my sci fi mystery last June. He signed me 3 days later and the last 12 months has provided invaluable editing input. A great, great agent.

Submitted query for an historical murder mystery/thriller, 75K, in August. Got a request for chapters right away, sent those, and got a request for the full MS right away.

Sent that, waited a while, then nudged. Was told he had given it a read-through, and it was on his desk awaiting his attention, and I should hear something from him in a week to 10 days. I took this as positive, figuring if he had read it and was still devoting any time at all to it, well ... it seemed a good sign.

Five months of silence. I nudged again yesterday. He replied, and rejected my MS.

I know it's a tough business, but, damn. I don't know why he would make me wait months and nudge him instead of just telling me after reading it that he wasn't interested,

I hope others who query Mr. Mecoy have better experiences, but he goes on my "do not query" list. I can handle rejection, but I should not have been left hanging like that.

lvcabbie: Might double check to be certain you typed it right. It was working for me yesterday.

Today I've requeried Bob Mecoy and got a same day rejection from him on Venom's requery--not what he's seeking for his list right now. I'll try him in March.

lvcabbie: Actually, he is in Preditors & Editors. "Bob Mecoy Literary Agency (formerly Creative Book Services): $ Recommended. A literary agency." And also here: http://agentquery.com/agent.aspx?agentid=635

Are you sure you're searching properly?

(As a sidenote: Yes. He is my agent. He also reps Maria Snyder, the NYT Bestseller, among others.)
