This was the nicest, most personalized rejection I've received...and the fastest. He must be great to work with! Ah well...

I entered into one of Mr. Stender's twitter contests and was fortunate enough to be able to receive a phone call from him. I mentioned that my query was passed over, and he explained that while he was on a trip (around the end of March), he immediately deleted any queries he wasn't interested in and wasn't able to respond. So if you sent your query during that time and never heard back, count it as a rejection. Hope that helps others in limbo!

But he is super kind! I imagine he would be an amazing agent to work with!

3/08/18 EQ_ auto-reply stating he was traveling and would return 3/13. No response in a week means not interested.

1/17: cold query, heavily personalized to a MSWL he had posted
1/17: full req. very quickly
1/17: sent full MS
3/12: ultimately a pass, but Uwe Stender is INCREDIBLE in his feedback. Detailed paragraphs and examples, and highly, highly complimentary on my strengths (which I needed to hear, trust me). I may see if he'd be open to considering it again if I revise later in the year, as I don't want to stop my WIP fantasy.

2/19 Received an email from Dr. Stender today. Ultimately it was a rejection, but I received the most thorough and helpful feedback I've received to date, so I still consider that a win.

Thanks so much for your query. Unfortunately, this project does not sound quite right for me. Maybe try my colleague Lauren Spieller.

11/2/17 received partial request from Amelia Appell saying Uwe had passed the query along to her as it's right up her alley!
