Question re this agent: it says on the website JUST include query in the email?

That means no pages and no synopsis, right? I don't know why I am overthinking this!

Dear engstromdd. The policy has not changed. For the past 5 weeks, there has been an OOO message in place that states that I will only respond if I am interested in a project. If you did not receive the response, please check in either your spam and your promotions folder. Sometimes my auto responses end up in there. Best wishes, Uwe

Automatic response saying he's out of the office until 9/20/2021 and if you don't hear from him by 9/22/2021, consider it a rejection.

Rejection email, but kind, within an hour. I appreciate hearing back even though it's not the reply I was hoping for.

From his twitter on Aug 4th:

I read every query I receive. It takes me about 10 seconds to decide if I'm into it or not. I read fast & I react quickly. The closest equivalent I can come up with is that it takes me about 10 seconds to decide if I want to shazam a song I don't know. Every agent is different.

Received a personal rejection with several helpful comments. I've met Dr. Stender at writer's conferences. He is invariably thoughtful and helpful. (Length of response is atypical for him and had to do with my submitting some revisions.)

Uwe sent me a kind email telling me that he enjoyed my book but was unsure how to position it in the marketplace, so he would have to step aside. He seems like a great guy to work with!

After submitting, it only took 3 minutes before the form rejection came in. I love that it's a fast reply, but it makes you wonder if every query is read.

From his Twitter published on 6/14:

My #MSWL these days: Fiction: Adult Suspense, YA contemporary (any subgenre), YA and MG Graphic Novels.
Nonfiction: Pop Culture, or Narrative Nonfiction that reads like a novel, but is 100% researched. I remain open to other stuff, but the above is what I really want.
