ChrystalIS - I did not receive a confirmation email. It took 128 days to get my rejection.

Does Ms. LeJeune send a confirmation email after querying? I emailed a month ago and haven't gotten a response and I've seen quite a few responses from queries after mine (but I know their website says they don't respond to every query).

Laura, the main problem with a book being "out there" is, again, how will they sell it? You could try answering that question more thoroughly in your query by using comp titles and being clear about your genre and subgenre. That's something I've seen agents comment on a lot--that they need to know where a book will be shelved and what readers it will be marketed to.

MWeisberg - Well, at least I don't have werewolves or vampires, then, LOL. I have time travelers and Greek gods in space (same book) (it works, really), though, and I'm worried that's a little *too* out there...

Laura, it's often an issue of product-market fit, or lack thereof. For example, it's almost impossible to start a new werewolf and vampire fantasy series right now, no matter how good it is. Agents aren't just looking for books they like; they're looking for books they think they can sell to publishers, bookstores, and readers who have never heard of you before.

I'm starting to wonder if A), it's my writing, B) it's my plot, or C), I just suck. Lol.

Still haven't heard back as of 5/15, but several people who queried in April have. Anyone who queried around the end of March still waiting to hear something?

Liked everything about the concept, but it was a little outside what she handled. She was engaging and helpful.

Sent in a query on 4/14/2019. Will update this when I get a response.

Genre: Dark Fantasy
Word Count: 66,000

I got a rejection letter on 4/21/2019. All these rejections make me wonder how well I write, even though I heard that most people get rejected a ton. They usually say it didn't interest them so I guess I will work on making quick satisfaction scenes for my second book.
