The rejection was personalised and there was some praise. She thinks it needs more structural editing (which I had already started) but that she wasn't excited enough about it to take it on.

Apparently she tweeted that she doesn't like dual POVs because they confuse her. Head's up if you're querying one.

Personalized Rejection at 107 days.

I don't really like commenting about the rejections but this one just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. She even put in the rejection that she didn't even look at the sample pages, which sorta bothered me. I will work on the pitch like she suggested though, because I honestly have been struggling with the pitch. I just wish she gave the sample pages a try, or at least didn't flat out tell me she didn't even read the sample pages.

Just received a form rejection. The "I literally have no notes for you" comment makes the whole rejection thing more difficult, which I'm sure is not her intent. Just kind of comes off as, "it's not worth my time to say anything", lol.

"I've read your submission and am sorry to say that I have to pass. Unfortunately, I didn't get that "must-have" feeling when reading your work. This doesn't mean there's anything fundamentally wrong with your submission, it just means it isn't right for me.

For picture books in particular, I'm being especially selective right now, as my list is already full of excellent picture book authors and illustrators. I'm only requesting materials whose titles and hooks make me sit up straight in my chair and hiss, "Yesssss."

I know form responses feel crumby, but I literally have no notes for you. If I saw something wrong, I would tell you. So please keep querying. :-)"

I think the condescension in this thread speaks for itself and her inability to engage with important questions about this thread. See: https://x.com/ViPutrament/status/1792861875836723703 https://x.com/jes_trudel/status/1792878739589660898
