Similar to Augustusturner’s experience, a member of my writing group live queried Lissa Woodson at a conference. Woodson said that she only takes referrals from a select few freelance editors she works with. Woodson then encouraged the writer to hire one of these editors in order to get a referral. The agent was later barred from attending the conference due to the conflict of interest. Avoid querying or query with caution.
