Query: 7/5
Full Request: 7/20
Submission Sent: 7/21
Rejection 9/6

Ultimately, she replied with a very kind and thoughtful rejection message. It's clear Rachel puts a lot of care and love into her work, so I'm honored just to have had the opportunity to be considered.

So grateful for Rachel's response to my query. She mentioned three very obvious red flags to my query letter that I was completely unaware of despite all the research that I've done. She's given me new hope, despite passing on my book. So grateful!!

I received this feedback from Rachel... "While I love historical fiction, this is not an era that I feel like I have a lot of knowledge about or comfort in, thus, in the editing stages I don't think I would have keen eye for any areas of improvement. Knowing that this is a self edited piece, I would want to be able to commit to having that editorial outlook for you and helping you polish it to the best it can be. I think there are some amazing agents out there who would be better fits than myself."

I'd love to ask her if she could recommend one of the "amazing agents out there who would be a better fit" but my query is closed and I can't message her.
