Liked the setting and the contrasting protagonist, but felt some of the themes/conflicts were too familiar. She also wanted "one more distinctive central dilemma to organize the story and set its emotional stakes apart".

Update: personalized rejection from Katharine Sands today, August 27. She clearly read it, said she liked the setting (described it and what she liked about it) and the emotional center was very appealing (commented on who my characters are to each other/their history), but what ultimately made her say no was the fact that the immediate objective and characters' consequence of failure needed to come into sharper view SOONER in the query letter (its there! Just needed to be shown sooner). Ahhh. I feel like it was close, so I'm absolutely taking this feedback and going to restructure my query letter a little, to move the immediate objective up a few lines.
Any professional feedback is helpful and valuable. I am so grateful to have queried this agency and recommend to others to do so as well.

Received a personalized rejection letter, explaining what was working, and ultimately what wasn't, within 32 minutes of sending the query along with a really helpful Pitchcraft letter. I truly appreciate agents like this.
