what the hell's an animal point of view, my villain is a cat In a space opera so she gonna automatically pass?
Sent query to agent on may 27 Sci-fi Fantasy 140,000
Rejected with a form rejection 15 minutes later lol.

Many thanks for sending your work my way. I appreciate the opportunity to consider it but unfortunately it's not a fit for me at this time so I will have to pass.

Thank you for thinking of me and best of luck with your queries!

All the best,
Alice

So, we can safely say if your character is an intergalactic villain who is an animal she doesn't want to represent you.

@Vaudeville, querying may still be worth a shot, depending on your book. There's writing about a gay character, and there's writing about a gay character's experience being gay. Is your book ABOUT this identity? Or does the character simply have this identity, and the plot is about something else? I've seen different agencies more clearly specify similar policies. This agency has a field at the end of the query form to speak to this, so I think you could explain and set expectations there.

From their submissions page:

"If your book is about an identity that is not yours, we will not be a good fit. This includes books based the experiences of family members and friends."

So, not being gay, but having written a story where the main character is, has somehow already screened me from submitting? Or am I reading this wrong?

@Vaudeville: That was my understanding as well.
